Sometimes, opportunities show up at the most inconvenient times. In this case, it was a brief that was right up my alley but I was away from the studio on an unexpected trip. I usually travel with at least some gear, but this time, I was convinced I wouldn’t need it. Of course, Murphy’s law. I found a cheap USB mic to borrow. Thankfully, my collaborator John was up for the challenge on the production side and we cooked up this tune in no time.
You might wonder how I managed to record vocals? Well. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. I borrowed someone’s car and sat in it for a few hours. We can do a lot with very little if we’re willing to get creative and make things happen. Next time your neighbor’s dog/TV is keeping you from doing your takes, remember that booth you got in the garage. It’s not the best, but it can work!
Although it wasn’t selected for that particular brief, it did eventually get placed later on.
